Turns out the problem originated in the calls to EventLog.WriteEntry(), I don't really know why, since I was using them before, perhaps there are certain events where it shouldn't be used?, all I know is that getting rid of all the calls restored everything back to normal, I don't like not understanding the root of a problem so I'll look further into it.
