I suggest that you read McConnell's "Code Complete". Not only does what he suggest is accurate, but from personal experience, I can attest that his observations are completely correct. You may choose to feel otherwise. So be it.

You question the sources I mentioned above. Much of what I've posted comes directly from those sources. Doing things properly pays for iteself many times over.
