Hi, Jonathan.

>the compatibility tab seems to have worked. could there be a problem with the network though? sometimes my foxpro 2.5 seems to work fine and other times it comes up with the error message "this is not a database file". so i am not certain that the problem has to do with compatibility. when we ran win 98, there was never any problems that would sugggest a corruption problem.

Well, my first suggestion would be to upgrade from FoxPro 2.5 to 2.6. There is no compatibility problem between both and your application will run exactly the same, but there were a lot of problems in 2.5 that got fixed in 2.6. I don't remember exactly, but the stability was very different.

You should try that. Of course, I don't have a clue about you can get FoxPro 2.6 nowadays, as both are obsolete versions. Maybe you can just get someone who had it and can transfer the license to you.

Also, there is an interesting ebook you can read about running legacy FP apps in newer OSes:

Best luck,
