>>>Rick's site is down, which also seems to have taken down FoxCentral.net (I think it's hosted on his server too).

>>Yep, Rick hosts FoxCentral.net.

>So I wonder how many other websites fell down because of this? I know that several sites and the Community tab in the VFP Task Pane show FoxPro news that is pulled from the FoxCentral web service.

>Just think of all the VFP users who are staring at a blank screen today when they click the Community tab. How many of them will get discouraged or angry? Who knows all the horrific consequences of this chain-reaction?
Let them suffer! <g>
No I realize that this was going to happen at some point, but then again FoxCentral is a community site that I basically host for free on my server. I have a special arrangement with my ISP that makes hosting other community sites plausible but there are a few things where i've cut corners in my setup. That corner is hardware. If the hardware goes bad - I have to take care of it myself which requires a road trip <g>...
It's a risk that I have been well aware of, but hardware backup options just don't make economic sense for my setup. This is the first time in nearly 10 years that this has been a problem, so in balance it has worked out OK.
Believe me I lose sleep over this <g>. Not just because the site is not available to the public, but because there's also a ton of private stuff running on the server that I use daily.
Anyway, I'm on site now with a fresh box (just in case) so something should be back up and running by tomorrow.
