This sounds like the same issue that I posted a while back and never got a response to. I still have not been able to get template columns to work, regardless of what type of controls I drop into the EditItemTemplate. I don't get any errors, but any changes to the data never get persisted. I can replace the template column with a bound column and it works fine.
