Hi All,

We are rewriting a FPD2.6 app into VFP8.0 where we need to read a COM port continuously but at the same time the app must allow for printing reports and do some data entry, so the reading of the port must go on in the background.

We checked the mscomm32.ocx and it seems to be nice because it is event driven but the event firing stops when you do a preview of a report to the screen or a "wait window" or who knows what else... On the other hand the Commtools library is not event driven and so you must continuously fire a method that reads the port in a do while loop. That is also not attractive.
Anybody has more experience with these tools?

Thanks,

Koos Veel.
