I don't think one can contribute the shift in developers from Fox to VB to object-oriented capabilities being included in VFP. One can use the product without any (or very minimal) exposure to OOP.

The shift in developers was more due to the length of time between FP2.6 and VFP3.0. I think people saw it as a lack of commitment to the product and to Xbase in general. Also, there has been a general shift away from Xbase. I guess VB just seemed sexier.
