It really sounds like your grid is losing its RecordSource, like pulling the rug out from under it.
Is the table closed or disappeared in some way during the running of the form?
Indeed, is the grid's source a temp. table or replenished cursor?
These are the "classic" reasons for the behaviour you're experiencing.
