Still I ask, but what about byte, as in a return value of a datastamp from a fill statement, I know I'm being fussy, but there must be a better way than presented in my original first thread request, ie.e comparing the gettype.string against a string of "system.byte[]"

I've dug deep into my no knowledge of vb.net and come up with a VB.Net answer to dbNull, OK Carl is cleaner than me, but some one of you out there must be able to tell me how to compare objects where (unknown object type) = (some know object type) (but got to detemine) even if it comes from a dataAdapter, i.e. a Byte value

Here is hoping, and always grinning :-)

Sorry to be picky about a subject but I'm sure .net has the answer (deep down), probably benieth my grandfather
