There will be no notice that the app is closing, do you want to save your work? The app just closes and her work is gone. This has happened at least 10 times today. The behavior that she describes is as if there is a Windows macro that clicks on File, then Exit and answers the questions about saving your work with a click on No. There of course is no visible sign of menus flashing.

The first 3 of those apps are all RAM hogs. Use the Windows Task Monitor (Ctrl-Alt-Del, Task Manager, Performance page) to see how much RAM is in use. If it approaches physical RAM + swap file size that's too close.

Is an upgrade to SP4 a possibility? SP2 is now quite old; a number of file system/caching issues were addressed in SP3 and SP4.
