I've tried using earlier versions without much success. Plus the spreadsheet needs to be in a later version. There are other ways to get the data it just seems a bit suprising that something the help says you can do doesn't seem to work at all. (Why am I saying that!)

>have you tried using an earlier excel format, maybe 4 then working up from there and seeing where it crashes, as it might be a verion number problem. we have recently come accross some problems with a word 2003 mail merge that was working with 2k and xp.
