>I work for SunTrust bank and support a medium sized VFP 6.0 app. The applicaiton is for real estate lending, both for individual mortgages and for large builder developments. We want to push out a upgrade to the product and we are stuck in committee. Everybody in committee wants to know why VFP? They are now even talking about sending our app to India to be rewrtitten in .Net. Of course you understand that these are a bunch of business suits who know nothing about the applications, the code, VFP or even .Net.

They Can send in Bulgaria to be upgrade to VFP9.0.
Why VFP send htis link to them - this is Article "Choose the right Microsoft database for your development needs" http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-6329-5056993.html
One of my favourite.

In our firm(outsourcing center) work 4 teams - VFP, VB, C# and C++.
I have application done in VFP and after that rewritten in VB.Net/MSDE because one of my customers like this. VFP application has 3 times faster dataaccess. Is This enough as a reason?
Ask committee what they like - a lot of money spend for development - because I can give you development plans of both variant we spent 2,5 times more time to develop VB.Net application compared with VFP.
They will need faster Servers and may be to buy new PC, because .Net application is optimized to work with P4. While VFP runs well on P3.
They will need SQLServers, which also cost money. Access or MSDE is not option for you - described in sent article.
While using cursors you can use DBFs to serve your bank(1000 connections is not a problem).
