Well there is a few projects for the future. Xbase++ is said to be coming out with a product which is report to be a VFP for Linux. I have been programming in Java because I believe Linux will soon make the desktop. After all Linux appears to be doing very well on the server market.

There are other Languages:
I think Python is very close to VFP in the general language and the way you create classes. Take a look at BOA (gui builder) and other ide's for python.

Kylix (delphi on Linux) looks to be a dead horse - no new versions for the 18 months - and it may not run on the latest Linux versions.

But there appears to be plenty going on at SUN and Java. They claim to coming out with something to match the programming environment of VB.

There are other languages that look interesting:
LUA, basic (forgot the real name) all claiming to run on windows, linux and Mac
