There is one in the USA I believe called Accountmate, another in South Africa, Australia, NZ and Ireland called Sybiz (they encourage developers to build addons). However I take your point, The great marketing machines of Quicken and MYOB roll on and soak up a huge amount of the market, but this in itself creates great opportunities as these packages often do not suit the mid range business and they look out for more flexibility.
We have written our own mid range accounting system and sell it locally in Australia and NZ basing it on flexibility and excellant service, we have found there is a huge undercurrent of discontent with the service offered by the larger companies and by giving good service we can charge higher rates.
Maybe it's time for the small guys like us to take the initative and and get amongst it like in the old days when all packages were written by small guys. Remember also that the world doesn't end at the west coast of the good old USA.
