Hi Jonathan,

Yes, that is probably your problem. In a mixed environment the file server must be the XP machine. MS changed some networking in XP and if used with Fox in reverse (the way you are) you will consistently get these database errors.

>changing the compatability does not seem to work. could there be a problem with our network? the server runs windows 98 and my machine runs xp. all other machines runnig 98 work fine. the computers that run on xp give the error message "not a database file". when i try to map my network, it never has the server mapped correctly. then when i map it to the correct place and try to run foxpro, it still does not work.
