Hi,
Make sure you cold boot it, some processes still run during a warm boot.
With Netware we occasionally get orphaned DS entries which are repair with DSREPAIR, this link may help http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;312862&Product=win2000
The other utility is ntdsutil.

>Hi Neil. No its not a virus. Have rebooted before. Its something else. Actually these folders got created (somehow) via a VFP app of mine that crashed. Rebooting has not changed anything. I will need to try the safe-boot mode next.

>>Hi,
>> Sounds like a process has gone south, if you reboot, it should clear, unless it is an viral infection, update and scan prior to the reboot, had a similar problem some time ago. If it is that virus the reboot wipes the disk.

>>>Hi Neil. The parent is named with two spaces and the sub-folder within it is named with a single space. However, they refuse to be removed. There is an error saying they are in use or that some system process has them. However, I cannot find any such thing and nothing new was installed. I will try a safe mode boot on the weekend and try again then.

>>>Thanks.
