Just realised what you said. Looking at your code, you've commented out setting the controlSource of the text box - I'm saying set the controlsource of its COLUMN.
p.s. still don't see how you could accidentally get an "e" in your brackets, in refresh(e), as it's nowhere nere the brackets and you have to shift for them. :-)
