I have a VFP8sp1 app on my users Win2k machines that uses GetObject() to grab some highlighted cells from an open Excel spreadsheet to do some work with. Sometimes my program chokes and claims Excel isn't open, even though it clearly is. If I look in the task manager I see two instances of Excel open. If I shut down the visible instance, one still remains. This confuses GetObject() something terrible.

Has anyone else ever run into this? More to the point, does anyone have a suggestion on how to get Excel to pick the "right" instance? Thanks.
