Thank you that is what I was doing wrong. I guess I misread something.

From my reading, it seems that the app.config is readonly, is there a way to create an editable one, that I can save data to. I'd like to be able for the first time the user runs the app, for them to enter the server name and save that to the config file, after that the app will read it, and if they need to change it they can.
