It should make no difference whether you have an order set or not. OK, INDEXSEEK() works but that was a later addition to the language and maybe is coded differently.

No, that wasn't the code I used. The code that was causing the problem is very long. I did manage to narrow it down to a section of code that I posted to Fabio. It seems it was Fixed in VFP 7 SP1 according to Fabio.
