The so called 'wise guys' and/or MVPs are called that way because they are contributing to the VFP community through public forums. However this fact itself does not say anything about the level of quality or knowledge they have. There are some other very knowledgable VFP people with real extensive VFP application developement, you seldom see up here.

I compare this situation where the pure 'relational model' guys told the world how to develop real life database applications. The practise is however that when following these rules you hit all kinds of practical problems that need a practical approach, whether or not violating the 'relational model'.

I have not followed this thread into depth, but if the *wise guys* just say this, it does not prove of any 'wise' thinking. Because the practical problems you hit are indeed practical and your assesment of the problem is clear and sound. Everyone who has read Alan coopers' 'About face' and has visited the GUIs' "hall of shame / hall of fame" should know that you should prevent these kind of nothing saying dialogs at any time. I suspect that these 'wise guys'are not able to think outside their scope of VFP development methodologies.

Personally I seldom encountered a situation where the dialog shows up in a production environment, besides programming errors on my side. So I don't have a real problem with this. However I recognize that this is a design flaw and should be fixed because if there are situations where this might be a problem, then it should be fixed.
