This is an internal functin that probably uses the SP you are talking about. I've been using it like this for a new "pm" module:

.Value = GetNewDocNo("PMsyst.cPmSoNo", "lAutoSoNo", "pmsord/pmsordh", ;
"cPmSoNo", .Value)
