On the portion of the Table Updates, I use a product from Red-Gate called SQL Compare. I connect to my clients over a VPN and using the SQL Compare tool, I can update their structures to the new ones in a few clicks and just a couple of minutes. This takes the head-ache out of writing my own alter table scripts. I use a launcher application that the individual workstations run, that checks the clients local server for any updates and then runs the latest version. I haven't had any problems with that. We are always on our own server and we connect to the server via Terminal services and upload the application changes every quarter to the clients server.
I love SQL server for the back end now, I use SPT and not the remote views, just a personal preference. We switched from the VFP tables because of the physical table size limitations in foxpro.
