I have a VFP8-exe that is used to generate a pdf-file.
This process boils down to the following:
- VFP generates a postscript file
- the postscript file is processed by Adobe Distiller into a pdf-file
- the generated pdf-file is returned to the web-browser (by VFP)

This all works without a problem.
Now, we want to implement all this on a W2K production server and we get into problems. The website host party is reluctant on installing Adobe (client) applications on there web-server. If we need Distiller they will only implement this on a dedicated server.

In order to keep this discussion short I would like to know the following:
- what alternatives are there to generate a pdf-file (ghostcript)
- can any one tell what needs to be done to have this software installed on a server

I have both looked at XFRX and Ereports and both have given problems with this option. Adobe works fine but other (server-side) alternatives are welcome.

Any help is appreciated.
