Hi Andy,
I went to the Clients Place after a long time & I noticed on the EM that there is sometimes Bloking and blocked SP IDs in the process info. And I noticed that a few tables have been locked. I checked the SQL it was just a Select statement. Why does SQL Server lock files when doing a query ? I then ran that same select from sql query analyser & ran the index tuning wizard it did not suggest any more indices. Why Am I getting blocking ? can You please help me. I appreciate your help so far and hope I am not being PITA.

TIA

>To give you an idea, our current server log counter file is 20GB in size for a one week period. A file this big would stop our email server and get me killed ļ . I recommend that you create a log counters database so you can analyze the data with statistical process to summarize the data into core areas of processor, memory, hard drive performance, and network access. Then based on actual data, make controlled changes to the server and monitor the corresponding results. This way you can recommend / implement intelligent changes (both hard ware and software) to the system. Another great idea is investigating what services are performed on this box. I believe Dan LeClair mention this.
