Maybe I am missing something... but why does it need a timer? How about just pausing a loop?
do while .t.
   *check to see if it is time
   * if it is,
   *perform some task

   wait window 'pause' timeout 60 &&one minute before it checks again

enddo
I have implemented systems like this before - except they were dynamic - ie, I could add tasks by inserting a record in a table - and the system would scan the table looking for incomplete tasks to perform.

There is a form with fields list giving the task done and the time (begin,end)for each of them. The form contain timer that lauch the task. Each day the timer die at one moment. When we realize that some task are not done we check on workstation the timer is die.
