I've not worked with Btrieve files, but there Crystal Reports comes with a Btrieve database driver. Crystal Reports also supports ODBC and OLEDB, so you may be able to access the data that way.
The version of Crystal you need depends on what you want to do. Are you just going to report off the data yourself? Do you need to embed the reporting capability into a program? Will end users need to create their own reports? Do you need to serve up reports on the web or on a scheduled basis or from some type of server?

Has anyone else worked with these files in Crystal Reports and if so, which version/edition is "enough" to handle the job?
