You'll certainly need more than the nlsxbe.dll - it has dependencies on at least LTOUIN22.DLL, NNOTES.DLL, NLSCCSTR.DLL and a few non-Notes specific DLLs as well. I'd just install the complete client stuff - it also makes it easier to check database connections etc...
