I am not familiar with the XP Firewall specifically, but you should be able to open port 1433 to get it to work. Port 1433 is the default SQL Server port, but it can be re-assigned in the Client Network Utility, so you should confirm that 1433 is the port you are using. Client Network Utility->General Tab->TCP/IP Properties->Default Port.
