>How are you subclassing it? If I subclass the CommonDialog control by dropping the original on a form, and then selecting it and Save as Class from the File menu into my own .VCX class library, I can drop my subclass on a form and do not lose those methods.

I think it's the common dialog classes that's in the FFC in 8.0 that's being referred to.
