Over the weekend I had a new problem with an existing application. In this application were are exporting the current inventory balances from Real World accounting, and importing to a FoxPro table. Then we count the inventory and record the count on tags. Then the tags are entered and the count is compared to inventory. After recounts, a Real World inventory adjustment transaction file is created and the inventory is updated. The data files resides on a Novell 5.1 server.

This application has been running in DOS FoxPro 2.5 since the early 90s.

This weekend we started having a problem when entering the tags into my tag table. We had 6 or 7 users entering the tags, and some of the users data would not be saved in the tables. There was no indication of any problem during the entry, but when I browse the tables some of the data was not there. The only thing that we could find that was different was that some new computers running Windows XP Pro were now being used. We cleared the files and used only Windows 98 workstations, and it worked flawlessly.

My question, is there some setting in Windows XP that must be modified when running DOS FoxPro applications. I'm not sure at this time whether the Novell 5.1 issue is pertinent.
