We have developed an app that is stored on the hard disk of a number of users. The data is stored on the LAN (Novell 3.12). Windows is also on the network for each user. The print module uses an API call to retrieve the default printer from the win.ini. The problem is that on one laptop we keep getting an "Invalid FoxTools File" error. After receiving that error if we try to run the app under her windows we recieve the same error on other machines. We've found a work around but do not understand why it works.


We have a chkver that we have installed on a few of the user's machine . It uses API calls to compare the version on the network and with the version on the hard drive. If it finds a difference, it copies the pertinent files that have changed since the older version to the hard drive. It then runs the program. When we added this to this one laptop, the error went away.

Has anyone experienced any thing like this?
