>The customer has a need to have their bill of lading form reworked, which I plan to set up as a standalone executable just to get it up and running. There are over 800 MB of files that make up this system. Where's the data? How do I get at it to find the data I need? If I can merely set up an ODBC connection, where do I get the information I need to set it up? The customer is not familiar with any of "behind the scenes" procedures of the system and the manual they have appears to be strictly user related. I've already spent nearly $1,000 on software that seemed like it might help, now I'm wondering if I ever needed any of it! Any suggestions?

Heya Martha -
last year I picked up the Pervasive SQL 2000 SDK at Half Price Books [complete with CD's, unregistered] for 19.95. You got a Half Price Books Store in Your Area ? Might be worth a look see.
I was able to use the Pervasive odbc drivers to hit a btrieve db from that sdk [but it supports a mondo huge amount of other data stores] with VFP - seemed to work for me.
Nomenclature from the BOX -
PERVASIVE.SQL 2000 v7.5
Product Family SDK
P/N 90-850050-02 here's an ebay listing [watch for wrap]

you should be able to retrieve the data via odbc and go forth.
I use the SDK set so I can study all the rest of 'it'.
hth - mondo regards [Bill]
