I guess you could interpret it as 'have a positive attitude no matter the circumstances, because it is not the experience but your attitude during the experience that matters' afterall, we are all going to have bad experiences in this lifetime so we might as well have a positive attitude no matter what. That does not relieve you of the responsibility for creating or avoiding the situation to begin with or how you handle it when it occurs...
