>We have projects with code scattered through buttons on forms, .prgs, etc. I know a certain project is creating a report using the .frx "XYZ" but I don't know where it is actually doing it. Is there some way I can do a search through the entire project for the string "XYZ" without opening every form and peeking under every button? This would sure save a lot of time...
Hullo Anne -
One Approach is to use the documenting wizard, then study the one big file it generates [the complete codebase for a project].
PDM [avail for download here] also has a global project search as well -
but remember - for both of these ? You'll have to make output with either tool.
I LIKE PDM cause I can do code reviews with other developers with it.
I LIKE the output of the Documenting Wizard cause I can rapidly find things .
enjoy ! [Bill]
