How do my application control the system date/time setting.

I refer to use 'british format' like 01/12/2004, but
some system are in other format which might cause my
ActiveX control or reading/writting of database file to be wrong.

Any advise on this issue is very much appreciated. Thank you
What should I look out for or configure during my development
time to prevent this problem.
