A co-worker had the 11/97 Advisor article by Tamar Granor. We just now got it working -- it involves subclassing a timer onto a toolbar. Really pretty neat, not something one would come up with off the top of one's head (at least not my head :). We set the "refresh" interval at 100 ms, seems to be about right...thanks for your input, anyway, and check out the article if you haven't seen it yet.

And thanks for the steer, George, I remember seeing the article last year, but didn't pay much heed, of course thinking I'd never want to do something like what I just today wanted to do :)
