I think it is simpler to keep it in the folder, as separate files.
Please note that JPG or GIF files use much less space than BMP files. JPG is better for photographs; GIF is better for screenshots.
In the report image, where VFP asks you for "filename", use the name of the field instead - the field that contains the filename.
This approach should be simpler than memo binary, and pasting into temporary general fields.
For example, your table "MyTable" can have a field called "MyPicture", character(20) or some other convenient size. This would contain the name of the file on disk, for instance: "picture1.jpg".
The "filename" in the report image would be "MyTable.MyPicture".
