Just a suggestion...

in the past where i have a main screen with several tabs on a pageframe, I have placed all the objects on the tabs into a container, and made it a class... then I only instantiate the containers as the users go to subsequent tabs...it might at least break up your delay over several tabs and the users will be less likely to complain.
