Hi Jim,
I've tested this under a number of situations. With and without a table selected in the current workarea. Without any tables open. With two tables open (one with 30+ fields that's unrelated), both with either table selected and no table selected.
The end result seems to be that using "mdot" in referencing an internal object slows the process down in each case.
