Does your form have a Save() method that gets called before you commit the changes? It would be easy to add code there to test for this.

If you have an Add New button you can check to see if there is already a blanked record avaiable to be used. If you are using table buffering newly added rows will have a negative recno() value which makes them pretty easy to find.
