Hi claudio,

SNIP
>What is Christianity?<snip>
>My dictionary says: Jesus followers !!

Not necessarily Jesus followers but maybe that they believe in Jesus I think. It has come to be interpreted as 'those who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior' but I don't feel that is the true meaning of the word.

I believe this from Acts 11:25-26. I think overtime the 'accepted' definition for Christian came to also mean 'not-Jewish' but I don't think the early disciples expected that to ever be the case.

Even in the Jewish new Testament there is something along the lines of:

Also it was in Antioch that the talmidim for the first time were called "Messianic".

I am not sure, but I think that if Jews call themselves Christians or if they admit that they believe in Jesus then they are thought to no longer be truly Jewish. Then they are deprived of the right to immigrate to Israel. Yet if they refer to themselves as Messianic instead of Christian they are often accused of misrepresenting themselves even though the word Christian is a hellenised version of Messianic just like Kristos is the Greek translation of the Hebrew term Moshiach. I once did a paper on this for religious studies and I must admit that many disagreed with me including my instructor. :o)

Of course I could be way off base here, but that is my personal understanding.
