If you go to the Filter Tab and click the combobox in field, select expression you can put your expression in there. The Update Criteria page controls making the view updateable.

>Thank you! That makes things a bit clearer. I tried crating a view yesterday as per your suggestion. I had difficulty duplicating the WHERE clause that I had created just by typing in a straight SQL statement from the command window. The where went "where !empty(somedatefield)". This isn't a choice in the View designer and the SQL cannot be changed, only viewed, right? So how would you perform such an action? I tried using the NOT IS NULL, but didn't have any luck.
