>>>Nick,
>>>I do not subscribe to the FoxPro Advisor so I don't have access to the code and I assume the work is under contract so you can't just give it to me. However, I just purchased the "MegaFox:" book from Hentzenwerke Publishing (I can't recommend it enough) and they give an example of using the WinSoc ActiveX and UDP. It looks simple enough. Do you think this would work?
>>>Yes, the Instant Messenger sounds really great. Is that avalable anywhere?
>>
>>I can send you my other article about this tonight. Can't comment on MegaFox example - I did noty see it and not sure how it works. But I understand that you applications should communicate on the local network (or on the same PC), correct?

>Nick,
>for what I am trying to do right now yes, both apps will be running at the same time on one PC. I had thought about using an instant messenger type system for sending zipped data packets over the internet. I tried for some time to find a way to do it but several people recommended I use FTP instead which I have now done. I found an FTP server that stores all the setup data in XML format so I went with it. I'm using the Marshallsoft FTP .DLL (it comes with VFP sample code) to upload/download and it works great.

Did you consider a possibility to use one of the existing Instant Messengers for this, for example ICQ ofr MSN Messenger? You could automate them and send the ZIPs through them.
