Alvin,
VFP is a very solid platform and a tool you can use without fear
esp. with the upcomming version (VFP 5.0)
VFP is good both for 2 tier and 3 tier development (as a front-end in a 3 tier dev.
IAC, VFP can integrate well with other MS dev products (again this is more true for VFP5.0) so if you really want/need you can use more
than one tool
