>I wish that were true. We have hundreds of customers printing drafts and some use sheetfed checks on dot matrix printers and some use laser checks on laserjet printers. We ended up having to create an frx for the laserchecks because not all laser printers accepted the same codes.
Oh oh.
>If the laser printer will emulate an HPLJ Series II then you can do it,
How would you do it in that case, Tracy?
>but in our case, a lot of customers started getting GDI printers and they don't even accept printer codes so we had to create an frx for them.
Have had the same problem with our DOS app. So far we have been able to convince them to get a special printer for our app and to print checks in a dotmatrix. I was hoping that with our VFP app which is coming online soon these problems would disappear.
>The customers using the dot matrix printers all have Okis though (some have Panasonics and epsons too) so that has not been a problem.
Dot matrix hasn't been a problem at all.
>We also have a printer codes table that contains the printer control codes for each printer type our customers use.
For all printers? Including laser?
>We have a table for all forms they print and they select a printer for each form. Each printer has a corresponding printer type record and it links to the printer codes table. We store the values to a var and then issue ??? opt when we want to
>set special options and ??? av_bold when we want to set bold etc so it sends the correct codes to the printer for our @...say reports.
TIA,
Alex
