>I'm having a problem driving at night. Many times, some moron with misaligned headlights is blinding me from behind, by shining too much into my rear view mirrors. Sometimes, it's actually perfectly aligned, but just way too strong, or simply positioned too high (as in trucks and SUVs).

>What I regularly do is to drop my speed and have him pass me and go his merry way, bothering someone else. Sometimes, when this doesn't pass fast enough, I gather enough adrenalin (aka rage), and give the guy one second of full lights once he passes. My wife says it may be a dangerous thing to do in a country with so many guns around, where "road rage" is a known sociological phenomenon.

>So, what's the right thing to do in this case? First, is there some law about this? Is there some sign to give to the guy to mean "your lights are misaligned"? Generally, what does a normal American do, short of bying electronic tinting for the mirrors and other protective toys?

>I feel this is just becoming dangerous. One night, I may be getting too much light from behind and not see something important ahead, or may do something wrong before I suppress the adrenalin.

The worst thing to do is to react agressively. Find a solution to your problem. Go to a store to know if there could a gadget to help you. I'm sure it'll be a lot easier to work on your problem than trying to solve the problems of the other drivers <bg>.
