Hi Jim,

Given the fact that many VFP developers never touch a developer's forum, does MSFT include any link in the VFP install for developers to post to the wishlist? It would be nice if it was a part of the setup (like in VFP8 where you install the OS support packs first, maybe it could be the last item or something) or a shortcut on the startmenu under VFP or something easy like that. It really is hard for us to see what the majority of developers are the most desired new features. I know what 'I' think is important, but I am only one developer out of how many?

>But I do acknowledge that building conference attendance, general hype, etc is important too. I've just got this funny idea that we (again the collective) might be more hyped and attend even more conferences if we knew of all the new stuff in advance. Discuss how to apply something is, to me, a lot better than discussing if something.

>>>Hi Kevin,

>>>I'm in agreement that pre-announcing ALL intended content would make eminent sense. We're all grownups, and if something had to be dropped then I'm sure we could take the news and move along. Especially if the list of features was 'refreshed' from time-to-time.
>>
>>You're kidding right? Do you read the same UT that I do <g>? There is no way (some) people would take the fact that their "must have" new feature in VFP was dropped very well. You'd end up with people complaining that "X" is way more important than "Y", that they're idiots if they don't include it, etc. They (MS) would end up having to "defend" their position for their reasoning, which I don't think they're inclined to do. Even if they did, it would still leave bad feelings with some people.
>>
>>And, in some respects, I think you're right - they want to hold back information as part of their marketing campaign. They want to build interest, support, excitement, etc. for their new product. Some of that gets lost if they were to just release a line-by-line item of planned features. I can't blame them for that either.
