http://www.intensit.ca/index.phpAh, Calgary, awarded the title of "World's Top Intelligent Community". Who can resist?
- Get yourself (and all your stuff) to CowTown
- Spend a day giving your best shot to some sadistic app spec
- While someone videos you indiscriminately (btw you don't get to use any of that video)
- For a chance to win a "prestigious trophy"
- I almost forgot: Cough up $1,000 (not refundable after May 1) for this rare privilege! Oh, I just saw that for a mere $9,000 extra they'll let you use the video after all! "Some restrictions apply"
Man, if I were a big company that would be a great way to get someone to pay me to solve my problems! Or, is this just a 419? (they don't even have a GST registration number yet)
Hey, I don't see YOUR name on the "teams list" ... < gd&r >
And that "promotional video" - I haven't laughed that hard for a while (thanks!) Might be worth the $9,000 for comic relief.
It almost makes me want to enter a team from Vancouver, just to see what would happen to this Made In Alberta event if we won! Oh, I just saw the small print - it's a "province-wide" competition. I guess the "World's Top Intelligent Community" doesn't want any foreign riff-raff getting in the way while they promote Alberta to Canada and the rest of the world :-(
I wonder if the winning team realizes the trap they're getting themselves into. Suppose TransAlta Team X wins. Next week at work, their boss asks them for a time frame on a new project. They say, "2 months". The boss goes, "But last week you did something twice as hard in one day!". Hilarity ensues.
Thanks again, for the best laugh I've had in a while.
Regards. Al
