>I was wise enough to grab a reply from an old thread that described how to hide the main FoxPro window (_Screen.Hide)... something I had been trying to do since I started using VFP5. So now I can hide it when I want an SDI, but do I have to have it at all? Seems like a waste of memory to me. (Apologies if this is a stupid question 8^)

It's in memory even if not visible, so your arguement isn't valid. I use _SCREEN as the program workspace. For example, launch word, then close all documents. What's left is the program workspace.
